History of the museum

On January 12, 2002, on the occasion of its 90th anniversary, the D.A. Kunayev Museum was opened. On the occasion of D.A. Kunayev's 110th anniversary, a re-exhibition was held in the first museum building in 2022.
The D.A. Kunayev Museum is located in two buildings. The museum's exposition is based on Dmitry Kunayev's memoirs “From Stalin to Gorbachev”. Based on personal memories, the facts of the lives of his contemporaries, archival documents and objects, the exhibition tells about that era and the personality of D.A. Kunayev.
The exhibition is equipped with multimedia tools that make it possible to get acquainted with D.A. Kunayev's family tree, childhood, school and student years. On the second floor of the museum, the video zone presents materials about scientific activities, Dmitry Kunayev's participation in the development of Almaty, his diplomatic activities, etc.
