Excavations of the Saka mound in the Alatau district of Almaty

During archaeological excavations conducted by the Association of Museums of Almaty, a partially intact burial of a Saka warrior from the V-II BC era was discovered on emergency burial mounds of the Early Iron Age in the Alatau District.

Fragments of the warrior's weapon, a sword decorated with gold, were found in the grave pit, as well as clothing inserts made of gold leaf with animal-style images, as well as silver-alloy items for clothing.

The warrior was in a wooden box located at a depth of more than 3 meters.
