Exhibition «Pearl of the great steppe» Seoul Museum of History

On December 6, 2022, as part of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea, the opening of the international exhibition «Pearl of the Great Steppe» of the Museum of Almaty was held at the Seoul Museum of History and Communal State Enterprise «Association of Museums of the City of Almaty» with the support of the Almaty City Administration.

The purpose of the exhibition is to familiarize the Korean audience with the history and culture of the Kazakh people. The exhibition consists of several main thematic sections, including the ethnography and history of the Zhetysu region, the musical culture of the Kazakh people and the features of the appearance of Almaty in the past and present.

The exhibition for the Korean public presents 131 exhibits, specially brought from the funds of the Museum of Almaty.

Director of the Seoul City History Museum Kim Yong-seok, head of the Department of Culture of the city of Almaty Maylibaev Gani Aidarovich, representatives of the city council of Seoul Aisulu Ashiralieva and Mung Song-ho, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Korea Dyusenbaev Bakyt Amangeldinovich and People’s Artist of the Republic of Korea Pak Jeong Zhe, all gave speeches during the opening ceremony of the exhibition,

During negotiations between the two museums, an agreement was reached to hold an exhibition of the Seoul History Museum at the Museum of Almaty in 2023.
