Exhibition «Kyeli sakhna — asyl kazyna», dedicated to the theatrical art of Almaty

On February 2, 2023, at 15:00, the Almaty Museum hosted the opening of the exhibition “Kieli sakhna — asyl kazyna”, dedicated to the theatrical art of Almaty.

Almaty is the cultural capital of the republic, where more than 200 cultural institutions are concentrated, including dozens of theaters. Today the theaters of our city play a significant role in its cultural life. A variety of theatrical performances: plays, operas, ballets, musicals, fairy tales meet the needs of the most demanding audience.

In 1928, the Kazakh Drama Theater was opened in Almaty, which moved from the city of Kyzylorda. Now the repertoire of the theater named after M. Auezov includes more than 70 productions of world and Kazakh dramaturgy. In 1934, the National Opera and Ballet Theater named after Abai started its path, which has become the cultural heritage of the country.

A great contribution to the cultural life of the city is made by the Russian Drama Theater. M. Lermontov, Korean and Uighur Musical Comedy Theatres, German Drama Theatre. The well-deserved love of the younger generation is enjoyed by the productions of the Kazakh Theater for Young Spectators named after. G. Musrepov and the Russian Youth Theater named after. N.I. Sats.

The exhibition presents stage costumes of famous actors Anuar Moldabekov and Khabiba Elebekova from the theater museum of the Kazakh State Academic Drama Theater named after. M. Auezov. A special theatrical atmosphere is created by unique sketches by artists of Almaty I. Balkhozin, T. Afanasyeva, V. Ponomarev, E. Tuyakov, L. Kuzhel and others, rare photographs, posters from the funds of the Museum of Almaty.

The exhibition will run until February 15th.
