Ykhlas Dukenuly is a great kobyz player of the Kazakh people, one of the brightest representatives of the Kazakh national string-plucked music. A person whose personality is a part of our spiritual history, who tuned the kobyz instrument after the great Korkyt. It was the reason for the clean and clear sound of kobyz. At the age of 19, Ykhlas wrote his first composition and called it «Ykylas kuyi». He knew how to express his most noble thoughts in tones that were absorbed into the inside of the voice of the kobyz.

The first kyuis of Ykhlas are closely connected with the musical oral literature of the Kazakh people. They differ from other instrumental works in their tempo and rhythmic structure. At the same time, there is a variety of mental content with thematic volume. Ykhlas performed both epic-heroic compositions and philosophical-lyrical ones. His kyuis are popular among the people, such as “Akku”, “Zhezkiik”, “Kambar-Nazym”, “Kaskyr”, “Kertolgau”, “Erden”, etc.
